Danube – APID Students Interior Design Awards 2012

Danube, the leading construction, building materials and home interiors company in partnership with the Association ofProfessional Interior Designers (APID), announced the winners of Danube Students Interior Design Awards 2012 at a gala ceremony held at Grand Hyatt, Dubai.
The event was graced by H.E. Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, UAE Minister of Education, who presented the awards to the winners. He stated the importance of interior design as an industry, encouraging students to strive for excellence in their approach. The event also marked the esteemed presence of Ms. Zarine Khan, Bollywood’s favorite Interior Decorator.

The Danube-APID Student Interior Design Competition was developed as an adjunct to typical course work, where students could utilize skills learned through their current academic development, in the design of an interior environment with far reaching appeal.

The registration process started in March 2012 inviting post-secondary students from GCC to apply for the competition.

The distinguished panel of judges for the competition comprised of Ms.Faten Alsarraf, Managing Director at Final Fix Interiors, Ms.Indu Varanasi, Managing Director at IR Design and Mr.Erick Casidsid, Design Manager at Gemaco Interiors. The designs were evaluated on aspects such as functionality, presentation, innovation and usability.
The winners of the competition were chosen from over 280 entries submitted in the two categories. The grand winning entry was rewarded with a cash prize of AED 20,000 and the winners in the CEO’s category were awarded with a prize of AED 5,000. The inaugural competition awarded 12 winners with total prize money of AED 85,000.

Akbar Mustafa Abdul Reda Sultan, Managing Director, Mustafa Sultan Enterprises inaugurates new Danube retail showroom in Muscat

Danube Building Materials, a leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, opened a new showroom in Muscat, Oman, reflecting its continuing move to strengthen its market presence and help address the demands of the country’s emerging property market. The new showroom was inaugurated by Akbar Mustafa Abdul Reda Sultan, Managing Director, Mustafa Sultan Enterprises in the presence of Senior Danube officials. The leading company’s ongoing expansion initiative complements a recent report from Ventures, a leading international business research and intelligence firm, showing that Oman’s construction industry is expected to key in spends of over USD 27 billion by 2014.

The new showroom is located along Ruwi’s Honda Road inside the wholesale and retail section for building materials. The new retail facility measures 42, 957 square metres and showcases the latest in sanitary, hardware, chandeliers and ceramic tiles.

Danube aims for stronger Indian market presence with opening of new ‘BUILDMART’ showroom in Ahmedabad

Danube Building Materials, the leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, opened a new ‘BUILDMART’ showroom in Ahmedabad, India. Anis Sajan, Managing Director,
Danube, led the inauguration of the new showroom along with other senior Danube officials. The opening complements a recent CRISIL report showing a five per cent drop in residential property prices in Ahmedabad.

In line with the report, Danube officials have revealed that the opening of its fifth ‘BUILDMART’ branch in India is part of its move to take advantage of the new found vibrancy of the city’s real estate segment.
The new ‘BUILDMART’ is strategically located in the heart of the Indian metropolitan city and is split into a 7,000 square foot showroom & warehouse. The retail showroom can be found on the 1st floor of the GNFC Info Tower, which is near the Grand Bhagvathi Hotel and along the SG Highway, Bodakadev, Ahmedabad. The new branch will offer an extensive collection of building and home interior products, particularly focusing on sanitaryware and ceramic tiles.

 

ESEA Award – 2011

Top performers in electronic services adoption in the trade and logistics industry were honoured on 15th Jan 2012 by Dubai Trade, the leading trade facilitator under Dubai World, at its 4th Annual E-Services Excellence Award held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Danube Building Materials won the special award for cargo gate pass e-services.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said on the occasion: “Dubai Trade and its ESEA initiative are fine examples of how Dubai has been encouraging and promoting a knowledge based economy. The UAE has been a front-runner in establishing itself as a leader in e-government services. We commend
Dubai Trade for successfully facilitating e-commerce and support its untiring efforts in complementing Dubai’s growth as the region’s trading hub.”

Danube posts impressive 25 per cent growth increase in 2011

Danube Building Materials, a leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, has revealed a 25 percent growth increase in 2011, which brings them one step closer towards achieving a target of USD 1 billion in revenues by the year 2015. This is the second consecutive year Danube
is repeating such stellar performance even under stressed market conditions. (2009 v/s 2010 also we have grown 25%)

Danube embarked on a successful expansion initiative in 2011 with an investment of AED 200 million, opening four new branches in the UAE, two in India and Oman, one in Saudi Arabia and in Bahrain. The year was also marked with inauguration of the company’s first showroom in Qatar & Salalah (Oman). 2011 also saw the opening of a new Melamine factory in Saudi Arabia and a new warehousing facility in the Jebel Ali Freezone (JAFZA). Aiming to maintain continued growth, the leading company has announced the planned opening of ten more retail showrooms within the GCC.

H.E. Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director General, Dubai Economic Department (DED) inaugurates new ‘BUILDMART’ showroom in Bur Dubai

Danube Building Materials, the leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, opened its BUILDMART’ showroom last December 15, 2011 in Bur Dubai. H.E. Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director General, Dubai Economic Department (DED), led the inaugural ceremonies and was joined by Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman, Danube and other senior officials of the company. The new B2C stand alone showroom is part of the leading company’s continuing efforts to consolidate its market presence in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East region.

The new ‘BUILDMART’ showroom is located in the activity laden Computer Street of Bur Dubai and spans 7500 square feet. The B2C retail facility is looking to target Dubai’s growing number of construction projects while also tapping into the local homeowners based in the many building
apartments and villas located in the Bur Dubai district. The new branch will offer an impressive collection of products that range from essential building materials to key household items. Products to be offered will include chandeliers, sanitary, ceramic tiles, wallpapers, curtains, blinds, carpets, plywood, timber, steel, hardware, flooring, gypsum and veneer.

Rizwan Sajan included in pioneering list of UAE’s ‘Young Asian Achievers’

Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman of the Danube Group, leader in construction, building materials and shop fitting industries, has been recognized as one of the top 25 ‘Young Asian Achievers’ in the UAE in a gala ceremony that was held last December 12, 2011 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. During the event, Sajan was presented with a plaque of recognition by Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). The Danube founder was cited for his dynamic leadership as chairman of the Middle East region’s premier building materials and home interiors products provider
and the significant contributions he has made towards the UAE’s continued growth and development.

The 25 UAE-based Asian expatriates are featured in a book entitled ‘Young Asian Achievers,’ released by Xponent Media. The achievers included in this pioneering list come from eight Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Afghanistan, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The young achievers were chosen for their contributions, innovative and out-of-the-box approaches in their respective fields.
